Great way to relate!2010-08-285 / 5
With my son as a train addict this was the first potty training book that got through to him. I like the fact that it covers the fact that sometimes they will sit there and nothing happens but that's ok, they should keep trying. This book was the first time he got that even tho we'd been telling him it was ok to not go, but that he should go and at least try. This helped us turn the corner past the road block and we were completed training shortly after. It's been a great summer with only a newborn in diapers not a toddler too (o:
cute illustrations but no real information2010-07-213 / 5
I agree with the other reviews, the illustrations are very cute but not engaging enough. There is very little information for the child about how to *Use* the potty train.
For Train Fans at Potty Time2010-04-275 / 5
My son absolutely loves this book. He is a big train fan and this fits the bill for potty time. As other reviewers noted, some of the messaging is subtle for the 2-3 year old crowd, but he loves the illustations and definitely gets the progression from the diapers to the undies. He enjoys the references to "sometime you get wet" and we talk about the different aspects being referenced throughout the book. It puts some fun into what can be a pretty trying and arduous process. Good graphics, simple language - but to set expectations it is not going to teach your child how to use the potty.
....?2010-03-232 / 5
Our daughter loves trains, so I thought this book would get her on the potty right away. Most kids who are potty training are the same age as her, 2.5. I find this book to not make a whole lot of sense to kids that age. It isn't all that clear... and I don't really enjoy reading it to her.
Cute, but doesn't quite work2010-03-113 / 5
I bought this book for my almost three year old child. He loves trains, and I thought he would like the book. I was right about him liking the book, but that was about it.

He was also upset that his "potty" didn't look like a train like it did in the book. I think this book set us back for a while because he didn't like his toilets anymore (we have three for him!)

In all fairness to the book, the illustrations are cute, and my son's friend shouts "chugga chugga poo poo!!" all the time, like it says in the book. Maybe it would work on even older kids (3-4)who are having difficulty.
