The idea for this game is nice: certain exercises work different parts of your brain than you would normally be working by just sitting around watching TV or even reading a book. This game has exercises to stimulate those areas of the brain. It's designed a lot like the Wii Fit in terms of testing you using some rather random method of testing which then evaluates your 'brain age' based on quite likely flawed, but amusing heuristics (zero mistakes in a short time period rates me a brain age of 3 times my actual age.... which would make my brain the oldest living human brain in the world). The caricature of a trainer makes condescending comments and chatters at you incessantly like that socially inept fellow you met at a party who just won't leave you alone.
The problem are the brain 'training tests.' The reading aloud test relies on you to hit a button every time you read a page aloud, trusting you to hit the button when you're done without any regard for correctness, proficiency, or even actual reading. If you just sing a tune to yourself and hit the button rapidly, it works just as well. You don't even have to make noise. Just hit the button when you feel like it. Not terribly useful.
Then there's the 'compute simple problems' tests. These are basic math problems: 8-0, 9-4, 3x16, etc. They pop up on the screen and you have to write your answers to them on the right. The problem is that the handwriting recognition is woefully bad. I write the number 9, and it says "72! Wrong!" I write the number 4, and one of my strokes is counted as one number, and then another as the number for the next answer. Both of which are wrong. It's really frustratingly poor.
I now begin to understand why it thinks my brain is so aged. It's not a very smart game.
Again. The ideas are sound, and the theory is good. But if you're expecting this to be anything more than a scoreless set of exercises you could do with a pen and paper on your own without spending the money, then you'll be disappointed. There are better sudoku games out there. And they don't come with the floating, chatterbox head on the screen telling you things you don't really care to hear. |

| So far I really like this game, and it has held my interest. If you are looking for something to keep your brain sharp then this is it. I like that there are a variety of activities from quick math to spelling challenges and I like that you are timed so it forces you think quick. I am also a sudoku junkie so I love that I'll have this for travel. I haven't had the opportunity to use the wifi yet, but I think that it's interesting that you have to capability to play against someone and not have to share the same system. I have no real complaints about it except that while I think the voice recognition is interesting,I wish it worked better on my ds lite. |

| We bought this for my kids and they really liked it. My wife is also hooked on to it specially sudoku. Great game to engage child in you. |

This includes various mini games to exercise your mental abilities. The random tips given really help you to think outside of the box. You can give yourself mental exercises at any time in any given situation.
